COMMON MISTAKES NEW AUTHORS MAKE

he journey of a new content writer is a bumpy ride. You may face several ups and downs along the way to becoming a published author. Content writing by the new authors is bound to be filled with a lot of mistakes. Hence, in the below, some of the mistakes are mentioned which can help a new writer to improve their writing by avoiding them.

Common mistakes  made by new authors

Improper introduction

While we study the content,  the first thing that we read is the introduction. It is an integral part of content writing which can develop the first impression of the content on a reader.  Here, they often fill up their content with lengthy descriptions of the setting by the new authors. The lengthy discussion on the setting characters often seemed to be cliche and monotonous for readers. Hence, the readers lost their appetite for knowing the story further after reading a boring introduction.

 Lack of research
“Read, read, read. Read everything – trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it, just like a carpenter who works as an apprentice and studies the master. Read! You’ll absorb it. Then write. If it’s good, you’ll find out. If it’s not, throw it out of the window.” by William Faulkner

This indicates that another common mistake that new writers make is to develop a story without knowing their genre. If you want to learn to be a writer you must know that content writing for a particular genre has its own setting of character, word counts, and style of writing.  If you do not know your story genre, they may end up writing the content too long or too short for a specific genre.

Lack of  knowledge  about style
This is common for a writer to look into the other writer’s work for inspiration. However, copying their writing pattern may cause great issues for the new writers. Suppose you are a writer and developing content writing for a book, you took inspiration from the novel which was written in 1920. Then you can definitely take the plot but still cannot use the same language. You must know content writing for the story must follow the contemporary style or the readers will not read your books.

Plot  development issues, just
Plot of a story that keeps the reader engaged with a book for a longer period. This has been found most of the new writers lack in writing an influential and engaged plot for affects the readers. Adding up the events in the plot of the story can be very confusing for readers and thus they lose their interest in their books.

Error in editing
If you are a new author then you must be thinking that content writing for a story is the one that takes the most time. Then you must be mistaken as not the writing but editing of the content will take up most of your efforts. Check the spelling and grammar in your content even after completing your task of content writing.
